Chet Zar is a dark artist whose interest in horror films eventually culminated into a career as a special effects makeup artist. He worked on the creatures and effects for films like The Ring, Hellboy and Hellboy 2, and music videos for the band Tool.
Zar has since refocused on his artistic roots, delving into the world of fine art. His oil paintings are darkly humorous and deeply unsettling, but provide a unique insight into one of the dark art world's visionary minds.

Mike Correll is a filmmaker fascinated by Dark Art. In his home state of Washington, he received local accolades at the Projections Film Festival with his video work, taking Best Feature Documentary for The Many Faces of Homelessness, as well as Best Animation for “Labyrinth of Penumbra”.
His newest release, "Chet Zar: I Like to Paint Monsters" (2015), takes the audience into the dark and foreboding world of (<--- that guy) Chet Zar. Regaled by Clive Barker as “An inspiring and important film…”, the documentary won an “Honorable Mention” at the Santa Monica Independent Film Festival, and the “Guerrilla Marketing” award at the Albuquerque Film and Music Experience.
